Cobbett Campground, Mesa National Forest, Forest Rd 121, Cedaredge, CO 81413, USA
A Wild Weekend of Mushroom Science and Connection Join Dr Amy Honan of Crested Butte Botanical Gardens, Fungal Diversity Survey, MycoLove Farm’s MycoRoam Van, and Western Colorado Mycological Association for a unique outdoor adventure on the Grand Mesa, the world’s largest flat-topped mountain! This guided mushroom foray blends camping, community, and hands-on fungi exploration in one of Colorado’s most biodiverse alpine forests with a focus on scientifically documenting fungal biodiversity. The study of funga is about 100 years behind other biological sciences so properly recording species distribution and rarity is critical. We then use this to inform conservation efforts. We can’t protect it, if we don’t know it’s there!
